Welcome to our Math program. We look forward to becoming better acquainted with you and your child as we journey through another academic year.

Homework: Homework plays an essential role in supporting the school academic program. It is designed for the purpose of developing desirable study habits and to provide reinforce the Mathematics skills and concepts learned in class. Most assignments will be class assignments that need to be completed at home. Homework assignments will be given on a nightly basis, and should be turned in the following day. If a serious conflict or family emergency occurs please send a brief note of explanation to school with your child. In the case of absences, students have the total number of days plus one additional makeup day to turn in all missed homework. It is the student's responsibility to ask each teacher what work they need to make up based on the "absent (pink)"sheet. Students are to follow specific headings on all work and are to check their work for the following:
- Effort
- Correct Answers (the least important on this list)
- Display of proper steps taken to determine the solution
- Neatness

Tests: Tests will include concepts and skills from previous lessons, assignments, notes, quizzes, etc. We will give all students at least a week prior notice before testing. The day before a test will typically be used to review the material on the test.

Organization: In order to help students be as successful as possible and to stress the importance of organizational skills, each student should have a Math binder. A binder with sections for class notes, class exercises, homework, quizzes, and tests is highly recommended. Proper organization will help the student when the time comes for chapter reviews and tests. A maintained binder will also help with any questions about grades, as the student will have assignments and tests to refer to. A student with a question about a grade received on work already graded and returned should have the assignment or test available before meeting with the teacher.
